Job Title: CNC Operator

Department: Grinding

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt

Location: Arden, NC

Shift: 1st & 2nd

Job Summary: The CNC Operator will be responsible for producing premium quality, high precision carbide cutting tools using specific tool grinding machines and programs. Facilitates and operates CNC machines by programming, setup, operating the CNC machine, inspecting tools for visible flaws, and correcting quality issues to ensure a consistent product.

As a CNC Operator, you are responsible for:

  • Setup and offsets as required.
  • Ability to accurately read blueprints.
  • Inspection of tools for defects using quality control tools.
  • Accurate programming and machine operation.
  • Consistently evaluating the quality of the finished product coming off the CNC tool and cutter grinder machine through visual inspection and the use of measurement tools.
  • Communicating quality issues to programmers and/or the General Manager.
  • Pulling material for upcoming jobs
  • Checking machinery on a daily basis to ensure functionality.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Certification from a qualified training institution in the field of machining is ideal but not required.
  • A well rounded knowledge of cutters, inserts and feeds/speeds is preferred but not required. 
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Previous CNC Operator experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Programming experience is preferred but not required. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of standing with some lifting, bending, and twisting. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stoop, bend or kneel when required.
